HOW MUCH IS MEMBERSHIP?
Membership cost is $10 per person per year. The cost of playing golf within our association will be covered later. Additionally, we normally charge $3 extra per outing to cover prizes. This money is returned to the members at our year end outing, in the form of give-aways and prize money for the last outing.
WHAT IS THE COST TO PLAY GOLF?
The cost to play depends on the golf course we are visiting. All courses require us to pay for golf and cart. Their fees are set. As mentioned above, we normally charge an additional $3 per person so that we can purchase golf gifts and prizes for our end-of-year outing and to build up monetary prize money for the same outing.
HOW DO I ESTABLISH A HANDICAP WITH THE ASSOCIATION?
Once you play in our outing, we will establish your handicap with us. Your first outing will be Callaway scored. That night after your round we will add you to our handicap club and put in your score from that day and using the USGA Handicap system, you will be given a Golf Association handicap. We do not use your existing handicap. The reason for this is:
a) the max score you can attain with our association is double par on any hole
b) in order to save time, we play lost ball or ball out of bounds as a drop and penalty stroke without going back to the tee to re-tee
c) we also play lift, clean and place from tee to green except in a hazard as determined by the USGA rules
d) and last but not least, we use the USGA's Equitable Stroke Control. This is the USGA policy that indicates what is the max score you can attain based on your handicap. NO ONE enters your scores into our handicap system except the handicap chairman.
HOW DO I SIGN-UP FOR TEE TIMES?
We do tee times a minimum of two weeks in advance of the outing date, their are exceptions. You e-mail to us your desired tee times based on the first tee time available. We in-turn will try to match as close as possible your desired tee time. If you have a foursome you would provided all names at the time you request your time. If you have less than a foursome, we will take appropriate action to match you with a group to fill our consecutive tee times. If you know that you will be on leave or TDY or in school at the time of the next sign-ups, just let us know by e-mailing us with that information . Please plan to arrive at the course at least 30 minutes in advance of your tee time!
WHERE DO I SEE THE RESULTS OF THE OUTINGS IN WHICH I PARTICIPATE?
When you do participate in an outing with us, you will be placed in a flight according to your handicap. If it is your first outing with us, you will be place in the last flight just for that outing.
We give the top three places a credit for the next outing starting at $25 for first, $15 for second, and $5 for third. Also, we have a closest-to-the pin contest at each outing with a credit of $25 for winning that prize. No individuals can win two prizes.
All flight handicaps are based on the handicap for the course that we play that day. The number of golfers playing for the specific outing determines how we divide the flights and how many we will have. Normally it is around 20 per flight.
Handicaps for that outing are based on the slope and course rating that we obtain and calculate prior to the outing. Normally, you will be able to see the posted results within two work days after the outing.
WHAT HAPPENS TO MY MONEY IF I CAN'T MAKE IT THE DAY OF THE OUTING?
If for some reason you can not make an outing, normally your money will be carried over. The reason I say normally is, that some course require us to pay for all golfers regardless if they show or not. Since we are not a money making organization, we must pass this cost on to you. Additionally, if on the day of an outing it rains, we are at the mercy of the golf course and not our desires. If the course remains open and does not want to credit us, then we must play. It is your responsibility to ensure you show for your tee time. It has worked both ways for us in the past and we do work very hard to get whatever money we can back from the course that day.
WHAT IS THE EXTRA MONEY USED FOR?
As mentioned earlier, we normally charge an extra $3. Sometimes we round this up for a couple of reasons. All of the money that is collected is returned to the membership in the form of prizes at our end-of-year outing. During the course of the year we purchase prizes from different courses as give-a-ways and we also build up a prize money pool so we can pay more places for our end-of-year outing. We are accountable for all monies collected and any member of our association can review our budgetary books anytime they desire to do so.
CAN I BRING A GUEST?
Guests are normally allowed to play with us. They will pay the same cost as you. The only outing guests are not eligible to play is our end-of-year outing. Also, guests would not be eligible to play if we ran out of tee times and some of our members had to go on a waiting list. If this does happen, we would call the person who invited the guest to let them know and replace that person with our members.
